Since Rita Dotson founded Tennis-4-Everyone in 2001, children attending summer camps at nine
Pensacola area community centers have received free tennis instruction. Dotson, a USPTA
Certified tennis professional, won an award at the USTA/FL Annual meeting in December 2013
for 10 and Under Tennis Programs in Florida.
Tennis-4-Everyone coaches and volunteers utilize the United States Tennis Association's 10 &
Under format, the latest method of teaching young beginners. The lighter racquets and low compression
balls assist in learning proper technique and extended rallies. Children learn to love the sport of
tennis - a healthy hobby that can be enjoyed for a lifetime!
Tennis-4-Everyone volunteer tutors and mentors work throughout the school year with kids in community
center after - care programs. Assistance with daily homework, studying and remedial practice is provided.
Each year, Tennis-4-Everyone introduces over 200 children to the fun and healthy sport of tennis. Studies
have shown that kids who participate in sports are less likely to turn to unhealthy and dangerous
alternatives in their teen years, such as drugs, gangs and other criminal activities.
Thanks to the support of YTF, Tennis-4-Everyone is going strong even through the Covid-19 pandemic.
